Authorities say rescuers are working to free a man trapped in a North Carolina grain bin.

News sources report Washington County manager Curtis Potter says a call came in around 9:30 a.m. on Monday from Lake Phelps Grain Inc. in Creswell for a gas leak. Potter said a subsequent call came in for a rescue in the bin.

Potter says Washington County Fire Department as well as neighboring agencies responded to the rescue attempt.

No further details were available Monday afternoon and Potter wasn’t immediately available for additional comment.
