The Roanoke Island Maritime Museum will host the 17th Annual One Design Regatta on Saturday, July 27. In addition to local entries, boats are expected from Edenton, New Bern and Elizabeth City.

The regatta is open to Optimist, 420, Sunfish and Topaz sailboats. The regatta will be held on the Manteo waterfront in Shallowbag Bay. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the first race starting at noon. An entry fee of $25 per sailor is required. Awards will be presented to the top three boats in each class.

Regatta organizers say the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse deck is a perfect spot to cheer on the sailors. For additional information or an entry form, call the museum at 252-475-1750 or email: sailing@manteonc.gov.
