In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 30, two house fires broke out in Southern Shores.

According to information from the Southern Shores Police Department, they and the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the first structure fire – 103 High Dune Loop – at 2:15 a.m. The departments were dispatched to the second fire – 313 Duck Road – at 2:17 a.m.

“The fire at 103 High Dune Loop appears to have been caused by a barbecue grill that was beside the residence,” said the release. “The fire at 313 Duck Road appears at this time to be an electrical issue that started in the detached garage that was near the residence causing the residence to catch fire and sustain major damage.”

No injuries were reported at either location.

Joining the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department and Southern Shores Police Department were crews from the Duck Fire Department, Duck Police Department, Kitty Hawk Fire Department, Kill Devil Hills Fire Department, Colington Volunteer Fire Department, Nags Head Fire Department, Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department, Corolla Fire and Rescue, Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department, Dare County EMS and North Carolina Forest Service.
