Shawboro man arrested on drug charges following Roanoke Island traffic stop

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported on the arrest of a Shawboro man on drug charges following a traffic stop on Roanoke Island.
According to a DCSO news release, on January 12, 2025 at around 8:53 p.m., deputies working in B-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on NC 345 near Coastal Campus Way.
“During the stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of an illegal controlled substance. The vehicle and occupants were searched, resulting in an amount of Methamphetamine being located and seized,” stated the release.
Arnold W. Haislip, 43, of Shawboro, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and was placed on a 48 hour hold.
