Mega Bucks: $5 scratch-off ticket lands six-figure win for North Carolina man

The North Carolina Education Lottery has reported on a six-figure win from a scratch-off ticket.

Victor Chavez, of Dudley, took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won the last $200,000 prize of the Mega Bucks game.

The Wayne County man purchased his Mega Bucks ticket from Minuteman Food Mart on Indian Springs Road in Dudley.

He collected his prize at lottery headquarters on December 30 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $143,001.

Mega Bucks debuted in June 2023 with eight $200,000 top prizes. Chavez claimed the last top prize of the game.
