Vehicle stop leads to drug arrest

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Currituck County man on drug charges following a traffic stop.

According to a DCSO news release, on December 6, 2024 at approximately 9:26 p.m., deputies working the B-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 64 and Pirate’s Cove Intersection.

“During the traffic stop, a K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of an illegal controlled substance. The vehicle was searched and an amount of Cocaine was located and seized,” stated the release.

Arnold W. Haislip Jr., 43, of Shawboro, was arrested and charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for illegal controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked. Haislip was placed on a 48 hour hold.

Manteo and Kill Devil Hills police departments assisted in this investigation.
