To the Editor:
President Clinton’s pardon of his half-brother.
President Trump’s pardon of his son-in-law’s father.
President Biden’s pardon of his son.
All of these, while legal, were wrong to my way of thinking.
President Trump won this election fair and square, just as he lost the last one fair and square despite his lies to the contrary. I pray that he leads America well when he takes office. As Senator Fulbright said of President Johnson, “he’s the only President we’ve got.”
But, if he does, as he has vowed, pardon the January 6 rioters, this will not only be wrong but a breach of his oath of office ‘to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” since I see those rioters as domestic terrorists who deserved the punishments they received.
Thus, in that event, I will urge Representative Greg Murphy to work to impeach him and Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd to convict him.
