Kill Devil Grill, located in Kill Devil Hills, has opened a sister restaurant: South of KDG Kitchen + Bar. Positioned just south of the original location, South of KDG Kitchen + Bar held its grand opening Friday, Dec. 6, at 5000 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head. “The new restaurant is serving up the same exceptional dining experience that locals with a passion for great food and have come to crave from the iconic Kill Devil Grill,” noted the announcement of the new restaurant’s opening.

“We are excited to be bringing the taste of Kill Devil Grill to our loyal and passionate guests on the south side,” said Joni Gray, Kill Devil Grill general manager. “We look forward to serving quality dishes to new and familiar customers, ultimately extending the legacy of Kill Devil Grill.”

Both restaurants are also participating in the inaugural “Misfits Bar Crawl OBX” along with other local restaurants. Each of the participating 15 restaurants in the bar crawl represents a character from the “island of misfit toys” and has decorated accordingly for the festive season. Guests are encouraged to purchase a “Misfit Postcard” to be stamped at each bar crawl destination with all proceeds benefiting the Outer Banks Relief Fund. The bar crawl runs through Jan. 1.

“Kill Devil Grill has a reputation of its own earning the ‘Best in the Banks’ award recognition for its consistent customer experiences since 2002. The restaurant recently re-opened in January with an updated menu and a new wine list that matches the amazing experience,” noted the announcement.

Both restaurants are owned by the Iconic Restaurant Group (IRG). In addition to opening a second Pancake Pantry location in downtown Nashville in 2021, the group also owns Ramshackle Café in Leesburg, Fla. (The Villages).

“Restaurants like Kill Devil Grill have been around for a long time for a reason. Our goal is to preserve these legendary restaurants and expand their influence,” said Brett Babick, managing director of Iconic Restaurant Group. “We look forward to these restaurants’ long-term success.”
