The Currituck-Dare Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $10,810 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

• $2,000 to Currituck Extension Foundation for Currituck 4-H Backpacks for Kids
• $2,000 to Food for Thought, Inc. for meals and more for hungry children
• $2,000 to Interfaith Community Outreach, Inc. for Bridging the Gap program
• $2,810 to Lower Currituck Food Pantry for general operating support
• $2,000 to Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition for general operating support

“These nonprofits add so much to our community,” said Andy Keeney, advisory board president of the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation. “We’re happy to give them the support they deserve.”

Funds for 2024 grants came from CDCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, CDCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Board members gathered in November at the Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores to recognize their 2024 grantees in partnership with the Currituck-Dare Women’s Fund. CDCF, which was founded in 1999, also celebrated 25 years of positive community impact in the local community at the event.

CDCF advisory board members live and work in Currituck and Dare counties, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Keeney, board members include Sheila Davies (vice president), Sheila Tyler (secretary/treasurer), Josh Bass, Lynda Burek, Ralph Deger, Amy Dougherty, Theresa Dozier, Dena Jakubosky, Sophie Jordan, Jerry Old, Linda Rose and Ginger Webster.
