Fire truck, bicyclist involved in Nags Head collision

A Saturday afternoon traffic incident involving a Town of Nags Head fire truck and a bicyclist is being investigated.

According to a Town of Nags Head news release, at about 4:30 p.m. on December 7, “an adult male bicyclist was involved in a collision with a Town of Nags Head fire truck, at a signalized intersection near the 5300 block of South Croatan Highway.”

The Nags Head Police Department announced Saturday following the collision that “First responders are currently working an accident in the area of Epstein St and S Croatan Hwy. South bound traffic is being diverted.”

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

“We extend our sincere concern to all individuals impacted by this incident. As this is an active investigation, we are unable to provide additional details at this time,” stated the release issued late Sunday morning.
