Thanksgiving closures, trash collection announced for Dare County

All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024 and Friday, November 29, 2024 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
These closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill in Manns Harbor, the Buxton Transfer Station and the Manteo Recycle Yard, which will reopen and operate with regularly scheduled hours on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
All other Dare County offices and facilities will reopen with normal operating hours on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Dare County Public Works, which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk, has announced a revised collection schedule for residential and commercial trash collection during the week of Thanksgiving holiday 2024.
There will be one residential pickup per area during the week of Thanksgiving, which runs from Monday, November 25, 2024 through Friday, November 29, 2024.
Residential trash collection for the week of Monday, November 25, 2024 through Friday, November 29, 2024 will be as follows:
- Monday, November 25, 2024: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras. Regular trash collection will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.
- Tuesday, November 26, 2024: Manteo (unincorporated), Wanchese, Skyco, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon. Regular trash collection will resume on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
- Wednesday, November 27, 2024: No residential trash collection.
- Thursday, November 28, 2024: Closed – No trash collection. Happy Thanksgiving!
- Friday, November 29, 2024: Closed – No trash collection.
Commercial dumpster collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024 and Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Regular commercial trash collection will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.
