For the last several years in May, car enthusiasts have made their way to the Outer Banks from all over to share in their love of cars during the OBX Rod & Custom Festival, hosted by Garage Band Charities, Inc. Featuring cruise-ins, a poker run, and displays of cars at the Soundside Event Site and along the Outer Banks, the OBX Rod & Custom Festival has made a name for itself as a great car show to attend.

But the OBX Rod & Custom Festival is much more than just a car show. Each year, funds raised through the event support local children and educational charities. Recently, a generous portion of the proceeds from the 2024 OBX Rod & Custom Festival was donated to Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP), with $25,000 going to support this local non-profit organization serving children, youth and families in Dare County.

“This year marks a big milestone for our organization. Children & Youth Partnership is celebrating 30 years of serving children, youth and families in Dare County. We are grateful to be a part of the OBX Rod & Custom Festival and appreciate the continued support from our community and Garage Band Charities. This generous donation will directly support the many programs and services that we offer to children and their families and educators in our community.” said Sara Sampson, executive director of CYP.
