Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Gregory James Anderson, 69, beloved husband, father, and brother left his Earthly home on November 4, 2024. He joins many loved ones in heaven including: his parents, Fredrick Carol Anderson and Carol Fletcher Anderson both of South Dakota; two brothers, Mike and David; and one sister, Tracey.

Gregory is survived by his wife of 45 years Darlene Anderson, daughter Jessica Duffy (Mike), and son Christopher Lawrance (Jennifer). Also surviving are five grandchildren: Kaya, Schuyler, Shane, Aurora, and Patty; brother Jeff Anderson (Emily); sister Karyne Danaus (Julie); aunt, Rosemary Karlan and several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

He was born at Ellsworth AFB on June 15,1955 and spent the majority of his childhood in South Dakota. After high school Greg joined the US Army and served his country honorably. He eventually made his way to North Carolina and became a waterman in Stumpy Point where he worked and made life-long friends there, and throughout Dare County. After 30 years on the sea or running a fish house Greg and Darlene moved to Engelhard where they fell in love with the quiet countryside.

He then began long haul trucking, and eventually retired in 2016 as a correctional officer for the Hyde County prison system. Greg was always the first to help anyone and could solve any problem put before him. He had a passion for knowledge and never stopped learning. No service is planned at this time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
