Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Mark Edward Fender, 59, transitioned from this life Friday October 25, 2024. He was at his Grandy home where he was surrounded by the family he loved. Mark was born in Urbana, IL. He was the son of Glen and Judy Fender, both deceased.

Following high school, Mark bravely enlisted in the United States Army. He went on to serve honorably for eight years during both the Iran/Iraq War and Operation Desert Storm. Following his military career, Mark pursued his true passion – robotics, computers, IT, and all things electronic. Mark also loved music. He played the guitar up until recently when his illness made it too difficult.

Mark is survived by two siblings; his sister, friend and caregiver Karen Graf of the Grandy, NC home and his brother Greg Fender (Cookie) of Carlyle, IL; four nieces, Ashley (Karl); Jana (Jim), Morgan, and Whitnie (Jordan); one nephew, A.J.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of extended family members, and loyal friends who saw him through his cancer journey.

Mark’s celebration of life will be held Monday November 11, 2024 at 5 p.m. at Gallop Funeral Chapel, Nags Head. The Reverend Babs Tessenear will officiate.

Condolences to the family are welcome via the online register book at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
