The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. – Psalm 37:23-24
All of us are waiting for something to change and then we are convinced that “things will be better.” Hoping to find the dream house, waiting for a new job. These are just a few of the thoughts we carry with us from time to time.
Oftentimes we cannot find contentment with our current situation so we are convinced something has to change. We run towards our goal or dream with record speed, tossing aside any red flags or warnings we encounter because this is ours to have. I have done this enough times in my life to know this is true. Wanting something so badly, I literally take it in my own hands to “make it happen.” There is a better way.
If we allow God, He will direct our steps. It is His timing we must wait on. I know when I am waiting for God to come through, sometimes it seems I have waited forever! But, when we take our minds off of trying to direct our own steps and give it to God in faith and in prayer, it will work out how it is supposed to. Parting thought: God knows what is best for us and when it should manifest in our lives, if at all. Trusting Him takes all the pressure and stress from us and places us patiently, in peace, under His shield and protection in faith.
