Dare County Schools has announced that Stacey Tillett has been honored with this year’s Teacher of Excellence award.
“Tillett serves as a speech-language pathologist in the Exceptional Children’s preschool program at Kitty Hawk Elementary School, where she is highly respected by both staff and families,” stated the DCS announcement of the award. “The district’s Exceptional Children Support Team selected Tillett for her significant contributions to both the school and the broader community.”
Dr. Reida Roberts, director of Exceptional Children’s Services, presented the award to Tillett during school hours on October 15.
“Our district support team describes Stacey as being a team player. Students as well as colleagues find her easy to approach with questions.
“She is deserving of this recognition because she works tirelessly for our students with special needs, always respecting the dignity and unique needs of the students with whom she serves,” stated Roberts.
The Teacher of Excellence Award was created by the Council for Exceptional Children to celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding educators of students with disabilities. The award recognizes teachers who demonstrate excellence in meeting the needs of exceptional children.
