Untreated wastewater overflow reported in Columbia

The Town of Columbia reported a discharge of untreated wastewater on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The overflow occurred at seven manholes located on N. Broad Street, Green Street and Bridge Street and was estimated at 28,000 gallons.
The untreated wastewater discharge entered the North Boundary Canal which flows into the Scuppernong River, noted the Town of Columbia in a news release.
The NC Division of Environmental Quality – Water Quality Section, was notified on September 26, 2024.
