Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Kill Devil Hills

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported on the arrest of a Virginia man following a traffic stop in Kill Devil Hills.
According to a DCSO news release, on August 10, 2024 at around 9 p.m., deputies from the A-District, with assistance from the Kill Devil Hills Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on US 158 at West Eden in Kill Devil Hills.
“During the stop, deputies established probable cause to search the vehicle. The search yielded the seizure of Psilocybin Mushrooms, Marijuana, THC Wax, and Gummies,” stated the release.
John Robert Cooper, 18, of Moseley, Va., was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana. Cooper was also cited for multiple traffic violations. He was processed and issued a $5,000 secured bond.
