Mary Bridgers named new assistant principal at Manteo High School

Dare County Schools has announced the appointment of Mary Bridgers as the new assistant principal of Manteo High School, beginning in October 2024.

“Ms. Bridgers brings a wealth of experience to the role, having dedicated 16 years to the field of education,” stated a DCS news release. “She has a strong foundation in both teaching and administration, serving as an elementary classroom teacher for eight years and an elementary and middle school administrator for eight years. Most recently, Ms. Bridgers served as Principal of Tyrrell Elementary School, where her leadership earned her the title of 2023-2024 Tyrrell County Principal of the Year.”

Bridgers holds a master of school administration from North Carolina State University, where she was a North East Leadership Academy Fellow. Prior to earning her master’s degree, Bridgers received a bachelor of science in elementary education from North Carolina Wesleyan College.

“Her experience and passion for education make her a valuable addition to the Manteo High School community,” noted the release.

Expressing her excitement about the new position, Bridgers shared, “I am honored to serve in this role. My goals are to foster a nurturing environment where students can excel academically and socially, and to support our dedicated staff in creating positive experiences and a thriving school culture.”

Bridgers is already well-acquainted with the Manteo community. She and her family moved to the area last year and her children also attend Dare County Schools.

“Dare County Schools warmly welcomes Ms. Bridgers to the district and is confident that her leadership will have a lasting, positive impact on the students, faculty, and staff of Manteo High School,” the release continued.
