College of The Albemarle holds practical nurse pinning

College of The Albemarle (COA) has announced the graduation of the practical nursing (P.N.) class of 2024. A pinning ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 30, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of 16 graduates. In keeping with tradition, the ceremony was highlighted by the presentation of pins, the lighting of the Nightingale Lamps, and the recitation of the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge.
“Each year, the ceremony also spotlights those who have achieved extraordinary academic and practical success during the program. This year, we proudly recognized the achievements of two exemplary graduates with three prestigious awards,” stated an announcement from COA.
Addison Hamm was doubly celebrated, receiving the Academic Excellence and Program Distinction awards. The Academic Excellence Award is presented to the student with the highest cumulative GPA in the class, and the Program Distinction Award is given to the student with the highest GPA within the P.N. program.
Katelyn Lewis received the Mildred W. Moore Nursing Excellence Award, an honor reserved for a student demonstrating excellence in nursing.
Graduates for 2024 include Ashley Bunch, Perquimans; Denice Cole, Currituck; Sarah Coley, Pasquotank; Keanna Cox, Pasquotank; William Goodson, Currituck; Shaniya Gordon, Pasquotank; Ashante Griffin, Perquimans; Addison Hamm, Chowan; James Jacobs, Pasquotank; Katelyn Lewis, Currituck; Jamie Lewter, Pasquotank; Casey Norris, Perquimans; Krystal Poyner, Pasquotank; Alyssa Rolon, Perquimans; Brianna Shannon, Perquimans; and Melanie Winslow, Pasquotank.
“We extend congratulations to all of our graduates and award recipients,” noted the announcement.
