Dallas Davenport, 98, of Columbia, passed away on August 5, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Dallas was born in Tyrrell County on September 23, 1925, to the late Percy and Lillie Brickhouse Davenport.  He was married to Margenette Davis Davenport for seventy-six years, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Dallas was a member of the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He worked as a papermaker with the Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Plymouth. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, riding his bike, eating ice cream, and watching western movies.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia. Pastor Prudencio Casas will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Gardens.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Davenport (Kathie) of Moneta VA, Frankie Davenport (Wanda) of Columbia and Jimmy Davenport (Teresa) of Chesapeake VA; nine grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Davenport, Percy Davenport, four sisters, Ida D. Maitland, Thelma D. Hassell, Wilma D. Spencer, Clara Mae D. Rhodes and a grandson, David Dice.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the funeral home and other times at the Davenport residence.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.
