Virginia man facing drug charges after Avon traffic stop

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Virginia man on drug charges following an Avon traffic stop.

According to a DCSO news release, on July 3, 2024 at around 10:56 p.m., the Dare County Sheriff’s Office C-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Kinnakeet Blvd. on NC Hwy 12 in Avon.

“During the stop probable cause was established to conduct a search of the vehicle,” stated the release. “During the search of the vehicle an amount of Fentanyl, Heroin and Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized. The investigation continued to a Hotel Room where the individual was staying and an amount of Cocaine, Marijuana, Prescription Medication and more Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized.”

William Thaddeus Bridgeman, 45, of Reston, Va., was charged with felony possession of schedule I, two counts felony possession of schedule II, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling.

Bridgeman was issued a $50,000 secured bond.
