Eastern North Carolina woman bags $2 million win on scratch-off ticket

The North Carolina Education Lottery has reported on a huge scratch-off win by a Hertford County woman.
According to NCEL, Odessa Chamblee, of Ahoskie, took a chance on a $20 scratch-off and won a $2 million prize. She bought her lucky 100X The Cash ticket from the Village Store on N.C. 41 in Wallace.
When Chamblee arrived on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 to collect her winnings, she could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million. She chose the lump sum of $1.2 million and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $858,006.
