Learn canning techniques in Currituck Extension’s food preservation series

Gardening can be a fun and relaxing hobby, but when harvest time arrives and you find yourself with an abundance of produce, what should you do? Join the NC Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center’s Home Food Preservation Series, and learn the art of canning your harvest.
Event Details:
- Date and Time: Each class runs from 1 to 3 p.m.
- Fee: $15 per class (includes canning supplies and recipes)
Class Schedule:
July 17th – Water Bath Canning
- Description: Learn to make blueberry spice jam using powdered pectin. The principles taught will apply to most jam recipes. You will also learn how to use a water bath canner to process the jars.
July 25th – Pressure Canning
- Description: Discover why certain fruits and vegetables require a pressure canner and learn the techniques for safely pressure canning fresh produce.
How to Register:

- Payment Options: Credit card via Eventbrite, or cash/check payable to NCSU. Checks and cash can be delivered to the Currituck Extension Office at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917 within five days of registration.
- Note: Full registration, including payment, is required to secure your spot. Class sizes are limited.
