This summer, visitors to the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge should keep an eye out for flashes of blue.
There are bluejays, bluebirds, blue grosbeaks and one of the most vivid blues, the indigo bunting (Passerina cyanea), seen here.
“As with most birds, the colorful individual between an indigo bunting couple is the male,” notes USFWS.
