Just like the rest of the country, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge has experienced a wide range of rapidly changing weather conditions. One day it’s windy and cold and a day or two later, it’s warm and calm. Changing weather doesn’t seem to slow down the wave-skimming brown pelicans (Pelecanus occidentallis) seen here, noted USFWS.
