Manteo Middle School Junior Student Government Association collected $418 through a loose change drive in December for Community for Kids.
Manteo Middle SGA’s mission is to increase student and community involvement in the school. This fundraiser was a way to get students excited about a schoolwide competition as well as benefiting the community. Buckets were placed in the front office each day for coin collection, on each bucket were the names of teacher teams in the school. The team on the bucket with the most money at the end of the week had to participate in a silly challenge during the school assembly.
In 2020 Community for Kids was formally established as a 501 3c charitable organization with a mission to empower Dare County youth to overcome economic obstacles and thrive as individuals. The Manteo Middle School SGA exemplifies the vision of Community for Kids, which is to inspire youth to connect with community and feel compelled to give back.
The donation will contribute to new shoes for elementary students who visit the center.
