Manteo men arrested on drug charges following assault call

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of two Manteo men on drug charges following an assault call.
According to a DCSO news release, on January 14, 2024 at around 8:17 p.m., deputies in the B-District responded to an assault in progress call in the Scarborough Square Trailer Park in Manteo.
“When the deputies arrived they observed a bag of Crack Cocaine fall out of the victims pocket during an interview,” stated the release. “A search warrant was obtained for the residence and an amount of an unknown substance and more Cocaine were located and seized.”
Connor O. Sadler, 31, of Manteo, and Daniel G. Matthews, 27, of Manteo, were arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance. Sadler was also charged with misdemeanor simple assault.
Sadler received a $34,000 secured bond and Matthews received a $30,000 secured bond.
“More charges will be sought once it is determined if the other item found is a controlled substance,” noted the release.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and the Manteo Police Department assisted in the investigation.
