Mary Hulsman Doyle was born June 26, 1929 and departed this world on October 31, 2023.

She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and married Bob Doyle in 1949. Bob and Mary were happily married for 72 years until his death in 2022. They raised 7 children in New Kensington, PA. In 1982 after their youngest graduated high school, they moved to Kill Devil Hills to live an early retirement life at the beach! A member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea, Mary enjoyed time spent with family and friends, a quilting group, Ladies by the Sea activities, volunteering for Hotline and membership in the Democratic Women of Dare County. “Grammy” helped to care for her grandchildren who fondly remember summer days at the Duck Woods pool with her.

Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed maintaining a cozy home, her neighborhood and gathering the family for birthdays and seasonal meals. She centered her life around the Catholic Eucharistic celebration of the Mass and in her final days found solace saying the prayers of the rosary. Her children Catherine Doyle and James Doyle helped her around the house until a serious fall injury in July 2023 required hospitalization.
