Olivia Patchel honored with NEAFCS Distinguished Service Award

The Currituck County Center of NC Cooperative Extension has announced that Olivia Patchel, family and consumer sciences agent, was recognized during the 2023 National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) annual meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.

Olivia received the NEAFCS Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes members for leadership, outstanding program efforts, and personal and professional development and is the organization’s highest award. Recipients must have served for a minimum of 10 years.

Patchel currently serves as the family and consumer sciences agent in Currituck and Camden counties. She began her career in 2011 in Currituck County. Throughout her tenure Olivia has sought to improve health and wellness among her clientele. Highlights of her educational programming have been highly successful healthy cooking, food preservation and food safety classes.

Cameron Lowe, Currituck County Extension director stated, “Olivia consistently strives to keep her program at the forefront of emerging issues in our community. She is a proficient supervisor, an excellent community leader, and a dedicated staff member. We are very proud of her accomplishments and excited that her peers chose to bestow this honor upon her.”
