Phyllis Drewyer, 94, of Crosby, Minn., passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Heartwood in Crosby. She was born February 11, 1929 in Norwood, Pa. to William C. and Marie E. (Haines) Morrison. She grew up in Ridley Park, Pa. and graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1947. She attended West Chester State Teachers College, graduating in 1951 and eventually earning a Masters Degree. Phyllis was married to William R. Pelleu on June 20, 1953. William passed away in 1966. Phyllis married Dr. Darwin R. Drewyer Jr. on May 26, 1973. Dr. Drewyer Jr. passed away in 2005. She taught 2 years at East Donegal Township High School in Maytown, Pa. and 29 years at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Md. She played, coached and officiated women’s field hockey for many years and was president of Washington Field Hockey Association for 2 years. She was selected to play on the U.S. Field Hockey 2nd Team in 1955. She traveled to all 50 United States and much of the rest of the world. She retired to her beloved Duck, NC and moved to Crosby, Minn. in 2016.  She loved animals, enjoyed sports, reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and other games.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Marie Morrison;

Spouses: William Pelleu and Darwin Drewyer Jr.;

Phyllis is survived by children: Darwin R. Drewyer, III (Kay) of Lake Frederick, Va.

Dale Sullivan (Michael) of LaPlata, Md.

Linda Antil of Aitkin, Minn.

Douglas Drewyer (Elaine) of Ellicott City, Md.

David Drewyer (Josie) of Churchton, Md.

Dana Werner (Patrick) of Burtonsville, Minn.

Doree Lynn Miles (Tim) of Frederick, Md.;

Sister: Patricia Nesley of Baxter, Minn.;

Many special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
