Tara Wheeler wins CIMC of the Year Award

Dare County Schools has announced that Tara Wheeler has won the Northeast Region Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator (CIMC) of the Year award.

Wheeler was recognized for her success in her role at Dare County Schools as a curriculum and instructional management coordinator during the Career & Technical Education Conference held July 18 in Winston Salem. She will represent the northeast for the 2023-24 school year and move into the CIMC of the Year competition for North Carolina.

In her role, Wheeler serves all middle school and high school career and technical education (CTE) teachers in Dare County. She provides support to CTE teachers and assists with implementing CTE curriculum. “Mrs. Wheeler provides high quality professional development to our CTE staff, which in turn, improves instruction and success for students,” stated a DCS press release.

“We are extremely proud of Mrs. Wheeler and the work that she is doing as Dare County School’s District CIMC. Our Career and Technical Education programs are key components to the options, opportunities, and training offered to our Dare County School students,” the release continued. “We are thrilled that Mrs. Wheeler is receiving the recognition that our staff agrees she deserves.”
