Chapel Hill boy dies after being pulled from motel pool in Nags Head

The Town of Nags Head has reported the death of a child over the weekend.
According to a news release from the town issued Monday afternoon, August 7, a young Nags Head visitor was pulled unresponsive from a motel pool late Sunday morning.
“Nags Head’s Police and Fire Departments responded to the Colonial Inn at 3329 South Virginia Dare Trail at approximately 11:07 am Sunday, August 6,” stated the Town of Nags Head release. “When they arrived, a ten-year-old Chapel Hill, North Carolina boy was being given CPR by good Samaritans. Rescue efforts were re-initiated by the first responders, but to no avail.”
The boy was transported by Dare County EMS personnel to The Outer Banks Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The incident is under investigation, but according to the release, charges are not expected currently.
“The Town requests that the public keep the boy’s family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time,” stated the release. “Thank you to the good Samaritans and Dare County EMS for their assistance with this call.”
