At NC Cooperative Extension, 4-H Youth Development strives to equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful adults. Effective communications and public speaking skills are vital as youth develop into tomorrow’s leaders. Currituck County 4-H staff and volunteers worked with 4-H members to write, rehearse and deliver presentations at the recently held Northeast District 4-H Activity Day.

Seventeen Currituck County 4-H’ers were among 108 youth from 22 counties who competed in the public speaking competition at the Creswell School Campus in Washington County. All 17 Currituck County 4-H’ers brought home blue, gold and silver medals. All 15 competitive youth (8-18 years old) have qualified for the 4-H State Presentations Finals which are to be held on July 22, 2023 at the NC State University campus in Raleigh.
