On Saturday, April 22, 2023, to mark the start of National Park Week, Wright Brothers National Memorial will offer free admission.

At Wright Brothers, a guided tour, titled “Wind and Sand,” is presented on April 22 at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. The 30-minute program is described thusly: “Step back in history during this short walk to the actual site of the Wrights’ first powered flights. Discover why the Wrights chose Kitty Hawk for their flight experiments and what life was like in the Outer Banks; learn about the events that led to the first powered flight on that cold December day, and the lasting impact their first flight continues to have on the world today.”
