Columbia man arrested for gun, drug charges following Kill Devil Hills search

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Columbia man on gun and drug charges following a vehicle search on school property in Kill Devil Hills.
According to a DCSO press release, on March 2, 2023 at around 8:30 a.m., Dare County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Divisions were at First Flight High School in reference to an investigation. “The investigation led the Sheriff’s Office to have Kill Devil Hills Police Department assist by running a K-9 around a vehicle in the school parking lot,” stated the release. “The K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search an amount of marijuana and a handgun were located and seized.”
Kurtlin Jovan Moore, 26, of Columbia, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a gun on an education property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Moore was given a $7,500 secured bond. Moore was an employee at the school, according to DCSO.
