Manteo Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
On Dec. 7, 2022, the town’s commissioners delayed decisions on two items.
On that day, testimony was concluded in the quasi-judicial hearing regarding the contested issuance of a special use permit for Salt Meadow Landing, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Peninsula Subdivision and close to CVS. The hearing before the commissioners lasted almost four hours.
The commissioners pushed the decision to this upcoming meeting. However, Sumit Gupta, the chief executive officer of SAGA Realty and Construction, has notified the town he is unable to attend the Jan. 4 meeting
The February meeting for the town’s Board of Commissioners will likely be moved to Feb. 8 at which time the Salt Meadow Landing project will most likely be on the agenda.
The second item delayed for a decision to Jan. 4 was planning board recommended text changes to the B-1 Village District. The changes included defining building height, changing the word “commercial” to “retail” and maximum lot coverage.
Creating non-conforming use with the zoning text changes was a concern.
This issue will surface on the Board of Commissioners agenda for the Jan. 4, 2023 meeting.
