College of The Albemarle (COA) has announced that two nursing programs recently celebrated a 100% first-attempt pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
All COA associate degree nursing (A.D.N.) and practical nursing (P.N.) graduates for the Class of 2022 passed on their first exam attempt. Students must pass the exam to receive their license to be employed as registered nurses or licensed practical nurses; however, they can graduate from their program prior to being licensed.
“COA has a strong history of success in both our Associate Degree Nursing (RN) and Practical Nursing (LPN) programs, and we are so pleased and proud to once again see this level of accomplishment from our graduates,” shared Robin Harris, dean of health sciences and wellness programs. “The students and the faculty all work very hard to reach the goal of creating quality new nurses to care for our community, and the sooner we get them into practice, the better for us all. Until they pass NCLEX and become licensed, graduates cannot fully practice, so the first-time pass rate is an important indicator of the competency and readiness of these graduates to be in the workforce.”
