VIPs and volunteers team up for fishing fun

Manteo High School senior and Leo Club member Liam Ryan assists “VIP” Janet Barnes of Randolph, who was one of around 100 anglers who made the most of a windy but sunny Tuesday at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.
The North Carolina Lions Visually Impaired Persons (VIP) Fishing Tournament draws hundreds of people to the Outer Banks for several days of fishing and fellowship.
Each of the ocean fishing piers in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head hosted these VIPs Tuesday. Plenty of volunteers like Ryan were on hand to help, including a team from the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island.
This small black drum was released, as were all catches after scoring occurred.
