Residents of Spring Arbor Senior Living gathered in the dining room Tuesday afternoon for a free concert featuring the talents of Tripp Harrison and Roy Riddick.
Harrison and Riddick played beloved old songs from the 1920s up through the 1960s from in the genres of big band sounds, old country favorites and old hymns from old time Sunday gospel sings.
With Harrison on the keyboard and Riddick on vocals, they entertained their guests with classics from artists like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.
The concert was part of the Caring for Dare Community Outreach Program sponsored by Twiford Funeral Homes.
“This is something we like to do to show that we’re not just the guys that show up when something bad happens. We’ve been doing stuff like this [concert] for a hundred years,” said Harrison of Twiford’s investment in the community.
A small crowd gathered for a stroll down memory lane. Residents were encouraged to sing along with the music, and many did. The concert lasted about an hour and was enjoyed by all.
