Currituck County Animal Services and Control rescued 61 dogs from inhumane living conditions Friday, January 28, 2022 from a Moyock property, according to Currituck County officials

“After responding to a report of stray dogs running loose on Robert Walker Rd., Animal Control officers discovered many dogs in outdoor kennels which were extremely unsanitary,” stated a Currituck County press release. “Several of the dogs appeared to be in poor health.”

The release stated that 47 adult dogs and 14 puppies were seized from Tim Warren, owner of Bentwood Labradors.

“Several dogs required immediate medical care and the group of dogs was taken to the Currituck County Animal Shelter,” stated the release. “Officers also discovered a deceased adult female dog in the kennel area with the other dogs.”

Currituck Animal Services and Control has charged Warren with 61 counts of failure to provide medical care, adequate food and water, and sanitary living conditions; eight counts of violating the restraint ordinance; eight counts of nuisance; and one count of failing to provide vet care that resulted in a death, according to the release.

The Currituck Animal Shelter expressed thanks on its Facebook page Saturday for support and encouragement from the community as well as donations made to the shelter.
