Authorities have arrested a North Carolina woman and accused her of forging bills and claim forms to get more than $70,000 from an insurance company, according to the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey says special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Latasha T. Vaughan, of Knightdale, of providing false and forged disability, accident, hospital and cancer medical bills and claim forms to collect $70,091.13 from AFLAC.

According to a news release, the offenses occurred between June 8, 2016, and Dec. 17, 2018. Special agents and Rocky Mount police arrested Vaughan on Nov. 24. She is charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies, the news release said.
