Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP) launched CYP’s Diaper Bank in May 2020, thanks to a grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation and the support of individuals, businesses and organizations in the local community. Since that time, CYP has distributed over 2,600 packs of diapers to families in the Dare County community, providing an estimated 83,000 diaper changes for the better.
During the week of September 27-October 3, CYP will be recognizing National Diaper Need Awareness Week. “With one in three American families struggling to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy, CYP hopes to bring awareness to diaper need in the Dare County community and how the community can help CYP’s Diaper Bank continue to provide diapers – a basic need – for families with young children,” stated a CYP press release.
CYP is in search of businesses, organizations and individuals interested in holding diaper drives in support of Diaper Need Awareness Week. CYP has created a Diaper Drive Toolkit that is available for use by anyone who is interested in holding their own diaper drive. CYP is also accepting tax-deductible monetary donations and donations of unopened diapers for CYP’s Diaper Bank. Visit darekids.org/blog/cyps-diaper-bank to learn more.
