To the Editor:
Just read where Mr. Hanig helped get 40 Mil. in the budget for affordable housing for Dare Co. This is a great feat if it is done correctly. If you look at Eliz. City, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton and Newport News, which all have it, the stats are scary as far as crime goes.
There are lots of people that need help but this type of housing was not originally designed to be permanent housing.
When Dare starts down this road there needs to be several rules in place. 1. Must have a job. 2. A limit on length of time to reside there (currently in the above names towns there a 2-5 generation in the housing). 3. Only residents allowed to reside. 4. If there are more than three complaints by other residents verified by two, they have to move. 5. number of children be limited to 2/3 depending on house size.
