Nearly a dozen people were left with minor injuries when a bench collapsed at a North Carolina arena that was hosting a rodeo, a sheriff’s office said.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy working off-duty at the rodeo on the site alerted dispatchers about the incident on Sunday evening.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Eric Curry said witnesses reported about a dozen people were seen dancing and jumping on the bleachers before they collapsed. The arena is located on a farm in Wendell in eastern Wake County, just east of Raleigh.
Curry said the injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment of cuts and abrasions. He said a bull rider was also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries related to the rodeo.
