Wanchese Christian Academy celebrated their 2021 graduates with a ceremony on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
With all the traditional components, Principal Holly Strum escorted the procession, including commencement speaker Joan Maxwell, who prompted the graduates to embrace their wild and exciting life of ups and downs. “Her charisma, southern charm and Godly advice were great enhancements to the evening’s event,” stated the announcement from WCA.
Valedictorian Amber Mann reminisced over the past couple of years of unexplained and unusual events followed by quotes from Dr. Seuss book, “Oh the Place You’ll Go!”
A slide show accentuating the students’ individuality was shown and concluded with photos of how these highlighted students have been together throughout their entire academic life.
Each of the graduates received local scholarships as well as other financial assistance to continue in their academic endeavors.
Oma Daniels will be attending the Rudy & Kelly Academy, A Paul Mitchell Partner in Virginia Beach, Va. for cosmetology this fall.
Amber Mann plans to continue her educational studies at Chowan University and dreams of returning to Dare County as a full-time firefighter.
Nicole Thompson has been dually enrolled at College of The Albemarle and plans to continue there until she acquires her Associates in Arts and transfer.
“WCA is so excited about the future of these graduates that have run the full course of the school’s program from K4-12,” stated the announcement. “After years of work, studies and projects these ladies are now Alumni of WCA!”
