First Flight girls track team wins championship, boys finish second

On Friday, June 11, the First Flight track teams returned to Northeastern to finish the conference championship meet.
The girls team won the championship, while the boys team place second.
The final team scores for the girls were: Bertie 8, Pasquotank 22, Hertford 61, Northeastern 67.5, Currituck 121 and First Flight 153.5.
The final scores for the boys were: Bertie 28, Pasquotank 43, Northeastern 73, Hertford 104, First Flight 118 and Currituck 132.
Lydia Sillies (10) of First Flight was named the outstanding female athlete.
Cole Tomlin (12) of First Flight was named the outstanding male athlete.
The top performers for the First Flight girls were:
Lydia Sillies (10), first in the high jump at 5′-2″, first in the triple jump at 28′-7.5″, second in the shot put at 26′-1″ and second in the discus at 78′-6”.
Madison Pugh (11), first in the 400 at 1:05.0
Tatum Dermatas (10), first in the 1600 at 5:45.7
Maddy Wagner (12), first in the 800 at 2:27.2
The 4 x 400 relay team placed first. Team members were Mya Salch (11), Maddy Wagner (12), Tatum Dermatas (10) and Maggie McNinch (11) at 4:34.8.
The 4 x 800 relay team placed also first with team members Lily Snow (10), Mya Salch (11), Maddy Wagner (12) and Maggie McNinch (11) at 11:01.
The top performers for the First Flight boys were:
Cole Tomlin (12), first in the 200 at 22.6
Henry Stecher (12), first in the 400 at 50.7
Warner Campbell (11), first in the 800 at 2:01.
Devon Coughlin (11), first in the 3200 at 12:15.
The 4 x 400 relay team placed first. Team members were Dominic Marino (11), Cole Tomlin (12), Henry Stecher (12) and Warner Campell (11).
The 4 x 800 relay team also placed first with team members Devon Coughlin (11), Max Bowlin (12), Henry Stecher (12) and Warner Campbell (11) at 9:15.5.
First Flight’s next meet will be Friday, June 18 in Newport for the State Regional Meet.
