Cape Hatteras National Seashore beach cleanups set for Saturday

On Saturday, June 12, two beach cleanups are scheduled in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

From 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Coquina Beach on Bodie Island and Old Lighthouse Beach in Buxton, volunteers will help seashore staff clean up the beach. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

At the same time, North Carolina Beach Buggy Association members will be stationed at off-road vehicle ramps handing out trash bags for collecting litter. Contact Tom Brueckner at tom.brueckner@ncbba.org for more information.

“All beach cleanup volunteers are encouraged to bring leather gloves, water, snacks and sunscreen,” stated the CHNS event announcement. “Please wear appropriate clothing, such as hats and closed-toed shoes.”
