On Monday morning, Feb. 22, a five-minute electric power outage will occur in Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon. The outage is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative posted the notice Friday, Feb. 19.

Several maintenance projects are planned for the week, including the installation of a new circuit breaker in the Buxton stepdown station, stated Laura Ertle, director of marketing and public relations for the cooperative.

Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras and Ocracoke will be served by limited diesel generators during the maintenance work.

Sometime during the week, power will be switched back with another brief outage and the cooperative will post a second outage notice.
