North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation SF-2-2021 closes the Pamlico River area in the southwestern Pamlico Sound including the Pamlico and Pungo rivers and their tributaries, to the commercial harvest of oysters by mechanical methods from public bottom.

The proclamation also maintains the closure of the northern Hyde area of the Pamlico Sound off mainland Hyde County, and the Neuse River Area of southwestern Pamlico Sound, including the Neuse River and its tributaries to the commercial harvest of oysters by mechanical methods from public bottom, in accordance with the N.C. Oyster Fishery Management Plan Amendment 4.

The proclamation became effective at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2021.

The intent of this proclamation is to close the Pamlico Sound oyster mechanical harvest Management Areas which have tripped the percent legal management trigger to the commercial harvest of oysters by mechanical methods from public bottom, following the management criteria established by the N.C. Oyster Fishery Management Plan Amendment 4.
